Robert L. Volz, Custodian of the Chapin Library
Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. B.A., Marquette University, 1961; M.A.L.S., University of Wisconsin, Madison, 1963. At the Chapin Library since July 1977; previously on special collections staff at Northwestern University, Bowdoin College, and the University of Rochester. Author of Hawthorne and Longfellow, Governor Bowdoin and His Family, Maine Sesquicentennial, American Maps before 1800, and Gunnar A. Kaldewey: Artist Books for a Global World; co-editor of Book Decoration in America, 1890–1910; etc.

Wayne G. Hammond, Assistant Librarian
Born in Cleveland, Ohio. B.A., Baldwin-Wallace College, 1975; A.M.L.S., University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, 1976. At the Chapin Library since August 1976. Author of The Graphic Art of C.B. Falls, J.R.R. Tolkien: A Descriptive Bibliography, and Arthur Ransome: A Bibliography; co-author of J.R.R. Tolkien: Artist and Illustrator, The Lord of the Rings: A Reader's Companion, and The J.R.R. Tolkien Companion and Guide; co-editor of Book Decoration in America, 1890–1910, and of works by J.R.R.
